Patients are entitled to request compassionate early release of superannuation for medical care under certain categories.

Currently there is no category for IVF or the treatment of infertility. In order to access funds for this purpose a request can be made on the grounds of mental health. Our clinicians at WHM are experts in fertility care and providers of IVF treatment.

We do not provide the service of completing applications for access to superannuation for two reasons.

1. This may be viewed as an ethical conflict of interest, as we provide and charge for services for which funds are requested.

2. Mental health expertise is outside of WHM specialists scope of practice. Health care professionals with further training in this area include your GP, a psychologist or a psychiatrist.

There exist companies who can arrange the process of superannuation access for you, if you are eligible by arranging the necessary assessments and supporting medical reports. This includes arranging a mental health review and written report which is required as evidence of your need.

Alternatively, you can arrange a mental health assessment yourself via your GP or a private psychologist to help you complete a superannuation release application.

Successful applications for release of super generally require documentation from a healthcare professional in the mental health category.
